Half Life 1

Do you want to play Half Life 1?

I can imagine that a majority of you have played Half Life 2. It is a very popular game. But everyone I know who has played HL2 has never played HL1. So I thought I'd show you guys how to play it. Nothing like a 1998 classic which led to one of the highest selling games of our time, HL2.

So basically... First you have to download the game from this link:

I KNOW THIS MAY SOUND A BIT ELEMENTARY BUT THIS IS MORE OF AN INTRODUCTION TO TORRENT BUT ONLY USING HALF LIFE ONE AS AN EXAMPLE, SO DON'T HATE :)

Now, we are not going to be doing a direct download, many of you may have used torrents before but for the benefit of the people who haven't, I'll tell you what to do. First of all the file you download is a torrent file which is NOT the game, It is way to small. To open the file you will need a torrent downloader. There are many different torrent downloaders to choose from, which all primarily download torrents. Personally, my favourite has to be Vuze (formerly Azureas), Once downloaded, you will need to open the .torrent file with Vuze, you can download Vuze from this link:
And try downloading the game again...

Okay so after downloading it you will notice that the game isn't an exe file, it's an mdf file. To play the game you have download a program called Magic Iso. Besides other thing, this program adds virtual DVD drives to mount virtual disk image files to, such as our .mdf file here. By going in to Magic Iso and installing the mounting software you can mount the game, and auto play option will then usually pop up, if not you will need to go to computer. I will go into more detail below. Here's the link for Magic Iso:

After downloading Magic Iso, install it and open it up. Click "Try It!" and you will be directed to a different screen. What you must do is click Tools > Virtual CD/ DVD ROM > Install Virtual CD (or whatever it's called). After clicking on it you should of been directed to your web browser with the web page that allows you to download the Virtual CD programme you need. Download it and install it then go back to Magic Iso. Now go back to Tools > Virtual CD/DVD ROM > Set number of drives. Set it to however many drives you want, in this case we only need one so just set it to one. Then go to F: No media (May vary between systems) > Mount and select the .mdf file. There you go. Straight after it should come up with auto-play and from there you can install it or if that doesn't happen, go to My Computer and go on it from there. Just install it and your ready to play!

Have fun guys! Look out for my next post!
See ya!

SAY NO TO ACTA!

Before I start up again with the gaming stuff here's something you should care about if want to keep your internet freedom ...
A C T A

Anti Counterfeit Trade Agreement is a new possible law which has already been passed in a couple of countries. This new law was made initially made to protect traders and original media creators from there content being copied by freeloaders. Doesn't sound to bad right? Think again. This will destroy our internet all together. There's so much I actually probably can't fit in this post without it taking forever so instead go to the website below, watch the video and if you really want to help, search the website for ways that you can prevent this law from being passed. It's only a matter of time so the more people that visit this website the better.

So now you know about that, it will be back to games next post :) please visit that website guys and keep checking my blog for more posts. See yaa :)

Fallout: New Vegas

For anyone who has played Fallout 3 or even Fallout 1, 2 or tactics, I'm pretty sure you're gonna be psyched for the 22nd October  release of Fallout: New Vegas, If not, I'm going to tell you why you should be.

According to multiple sources, the sheer size of the whole map of New Vegas is going to be a hell of a lot bigger than the world map in 3. Unlike Fallout 3, where the third person view was awkward to use, In New Vegas, the camera angle has been changed to make the third person not only usable but preferable. As a result of this, there will be many more silly or funny outfits to be seen in third person.

Although New Vegas is not sequel to Fallout 3 and will not include any people or places remotely related to 3, It is more linked to the games before 3, due to the fact that Obsisian Entertainment are developing the game and many on the employees worked on the original game. So if you've played original games I will be a bit of a bonus, and you may spot some familiar names. One of the main things a lot of people are thinking about is whether New Vegas will live up to Fallout 3, as it was such an amazing game and a massive step up from the previous turn based games. In my opinion, I believe that It will in fact match the quality of the Fallout 3 or even exceed it.

A few websites and magazines have had a hands on play with Fallout New Vegas, by far, my favourite has to be the one my Machinima on Youtube, here it is:

There are also bonuses when you pre-order with certain websites, a list of these bonuses and website is here,

PlayStation 3 Review and Comparison

An in depth article explaining the reasons why or why not to buy the PlayStation 3, including comparisons with other top of the range consoles. Hopefully this will give you the knowledge to make an informed decision on which may be the best to buy depending on what you're looking for. I will be giving the information up to date to this day.

I will base my review on 6 individual points, these will be:
- Hardware
- GPU
- Looks
- Disks
- Features
- Games

As the Nintendo Wii is a console manly used for family games and not suited for hardcore gamers, I will only compare the PS3 and the Xbox 360, When I refer to the Xbox 360, I mean the original not the new Xbox 360 S.

To start, the hardware, the PS3 Slim and original are both powered by a CPU called the Cell Broadband Engine which has a total of eight cores which run at 3.2GHz each, with six of them used for games, one of them used for security and the operating system (OS) and the eighth core isn't used. The PS3 Slim either comes with a 120GB, 160GB, 250GB or a 320GB hard drive. As a comparison to the 360, the CPU used is called the PowerPC Tri-Core Xenon which has three cores running at 3.2GHz each. The 360 comes with either 256MB, 512MB or 4GB of on board memory and a 20GB, 60GB, 120GB or 250GB removable hard drive.

Now on to the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), the GPU used in the PS3 original and slim is called the nVidia RSX running at 550 MHz, It has 256MB of RAM that runs 1.3GHz which is solely dedicated to the GPU. The 360 GPU, the ATI Xenos, runs at 500 MHz. It has 512MB of RAM which is also shared with the CPU. This RAM runs at 800MHz over the whole system.

The next category, looks, really depends on your personal taste, for me, I think the PS3 looks pretty good and I also think the 360 looks good as well but both have different aspects which may or may not be aesthetically pleasing to you.

Now, the discs, the PS3 uses Blu-ray discs which can hold up to 50GB (Single Sided) per one disc as apposed to the format used by the 360 which are DVD disks that can hold a maximum of 8.5GB (Single Sided).

This next section is about the range of features available. The PS3 Slim has many features, these include, 2 USB Ports, PlayStation Network (PSN), Blu-ray/DVD/CD player, PlayStation Eye and Bravia Sync XMB Control (Allows you to control the PS3's XMB via a Sony Bravia TV using its controller). The features that the 360 have are as follows, 3 USB Ports, Kinect, Xbox Live, Interchangeable face plates and Media Center Extender.
